We are pleased to offer this outstanding stoneware birdhouse with early paint. We believe the house was made by the White Hall Sewer Pipe & Stoneware Company in White Hall Illinois. We have also seen them attributed to the Western Stoneware Company and have listed it under both. The birdhouse has been used and shows normal wear to the paint. The birdhouse is quite exceptional in detail and design. The clay shows a layered design in the roof and a faux wood texture to the sides. T are two oval windows impressed on each side. The birdhouse measures 6.5" in height and 6.5" across the roof diameter with the base diameter of 4.25". T is a small entrance opening, 1" diameter, and a small hole in the base for cleaning. Directly below the entrance is a perch made from a rusty screw. The bird house is in excellent condition with only a couple of small flakes along the exterior line of the roof which are shown in Photo 9. We believe the paint to be original, but cannot guarantee that it was not applied at a later date. T is a great deal of wear to the paint from exposure to the outdoors. The roof shows flaking to the paint and not to the actual stoneware, except for the minor flakes that were noted. We can find no other chips, cracks, hairlines, or flakes. T are some clay variations and normal imperfections that are innt in the making of stoneware. read more
