Following his blockbuster selling and fan acclaimed year long stint with Jeph Loeb on Batman , Jim Lee teams up with writer Brian Azzarello for an equally lengthy run on Superman . Highly anticipated amongst fan, critics, and retailers alike, the first issue of the Azzarello-Lee run remains one of the highest selling comic book in recent years, kicking off the year long arc titled For Tomorrow . Considering that the entire arc is penciled and inked by Jim Lee and Scott Williams, it's obvious from the get go that For Tomorrow is one of the most beautifully illustrated story to grace the pages of the Superman monthly. From the epic and sometime brutal fight sequences to the quieter, more introspective moments of the story, Jim Lee brings an air of majesty and power to Superman, showing these traits as something innt in the character and still shines through even when Superman himself is down on his dumps. Set one year ahead in terms of DC Universe continuity, Superman finds himself in a crisis of faith following a mysterious event known as the Vanishing w a million people from around the planet simply disappeared into thin air. Superman aiding Green Lantern in outer space when the Vanishing happened, returning to Earth too late to do anything about it. Worse of all, Lois Lane is one of the victims of this event. His investigation leads him to an unnamed Middle Eastern country led by a General Nox, who has come into possession of the device that caused the Vanishing.
Superman's attempt at regaining possession of the device fails when Nox's ally, the genetically enhanced creature known as Equus, activates the device in an attempt to escape from Superman, causing 3000 other people around the world to disappear. Unfortunately, Superman's involvement in the disappearance of General Nox has caused general uproar amongst the global population and even the JLA confronts Superman about his recent acts that are admittedly uncharacteristic of him.
Despite what everyone else thinks, Superman still clings on to the hope that the victims of the Vanishing are still alive and intends to use the device on himself. His action is intervened by Wonder Woman, whom along with Batman believes Superman is committing suicide. With his newfound friend Father Daniel Leone visiting , Superman and Wonder Woman's battle causes tremendous damage to the fortress which is worsened by the untimely arrival of the mysterious mercenary known only as Mr. Orr. With the fortress crumbling around them, Wonder Woman is forced to save Daniel Leone and Orr from certain doom, giving Superman a window of opportunity to subject himself to the Vanishing.
In the other-dimensional realm of the Vanishing, Superman is greeted by Clark Kent. Entrusting the device to Kent, Superman flies off into this paradise to look for Lois Lane, who would introduce Superman to his biological parents, Jor-El and Lara. Unfortunately, Superman's presence does not go undetected as Equus captures Clark Kent, returning him to his master, preparing to lay a final assault on the newly established village of Metropia. Despite being protected by a super-powered Jor-El, Metropia quickly falls when Equus' master reveals himself, forcing Superman into action against a foe who shares more than a few similarities with Kal-El.Shipping discount USA: I can ship up to 3 CGC books in 1 box for $9.00 Canada discount: Up to 3 CGC books for $30 Worldwide discount: Up to 3 CGC books for $50 If you win the entire run I will ship all together & give a discount.
