Description A beautiful large antique mid Victorian solid sterling silver butter knife/spreader with stunning carved real mother of pearl handle. Has a lovely curved silver blade which is decorated with flowers & foliage and has a shaped edge. Has a reeded silver ferrule in the centre. No engraved inscriptions,monograms or crests. Measurements Measures 7 inches (179mm) in length and is approx 1 inches (25mm) wide. Date Full set of English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1876 (date letter "b"). Also has the sovereigns duty mark of Queen Victoria. Maker Hilliard & Thomason (H.T). Condition Superb clean condition and ready to be used. No splits or cracks to the silver, no solder repairs and no knocks, dents or bruises either. No bends or creases on the blade and the engraved decoration is still crisp and sharp. The silver ferrule in the centre is undamaged and is all tight & secure. The carved mother of pearl handle is beautiful and gives off some lovely natural colours.
