I am very pleased to present for sale this Impressive Victorian Eastlake Cherry & Mahogany 3 piece Bedroom Set signed by the maker "The Robert Mitchell Furniture Co, Cincinnati, OH." circa 1880's. Robert Mitchell was the "Mitchell" in the makers Mitchell and Rammelsberg" which was formed in 1847 and quickly grew to be the city's largest furniture maker. The company was called "The Robert Mitchell Furniture Co." after 1881 and closed in the 1930's. This magnificent bedroom set is in immaculate condition with its original brass Eastlake hardware and working locks with key and all the original double casters. This gorgeous set offers wonderful rope twists carvings, and egg & dart carvings along with carved Fleur-de-Lis and period incised carvings on the rare cherry & mahogany wood. The heavily carved high back bed measures a total height at the head-board of 75 inches, a total outside width of the bed is 59 inches, outside length of 80 1/2 inches, the height of the heavily carved foot-board measures 35 inches, and the approximate total weight of the bed is 200 lbs. The bed has its original cherry bed rails and the inside mattress area measures 56 1/4 inches wide by 75 inches long and should accommodate a full size mattress set nicely but you should measure your mattress set to assure proper fit. We do have the orginal double wood casters for the bed that are not in place in the pictures. The matching dresser with its original double beveled round mirror measures a total height of 79 inches to the top of the mirror frame, a total width of 47 1/2 inches, a total depth of 20 inches and the height from the floor to the top of the dresser is 30 1/2 inches, and the approximate weight of the dresser with the mirror is 145 lbs. The original double beveled mirror measures 31 inches in diameter and is in fantastic antique condition. The dresser base has three smaller drawers over two larger ones each having the orginal brass Eastlake pulls and matching brass key escutcheons and period Knapp Joint dove-tailing on the drawers and they key works all the locks on the dresser. The matching washstand measures 53 1/2 inches in total height, height to the top of the washstand base is 28 3/4 inches, 32 1/2 inches wide and 17 3/4 inches deep and weighs approximately 80 lbs. The rope twists towel bar arms hold the orginal solid brass towel rod.The washstand has a single drawer over two smaller drawers on the bottom left with a storage cabinet on the right all with the original brass pulls like the dresser and also with knapp joint dove-tailed drawer ends and the key also works these locks.
