Chicago Steel Tape - 100 Foot Babbitt Chain CHICAGO STEEL TAPE COMPANY, CHICAGO , ILLINOIS Manufacturers of the Original Babbitt Marked Tape =============AND=============== Common Sense Things for Field Use Standard Babbitt foot tapes are marked every foot with the first and last foot marked in tenths. They also made a very rare 1/2 Railroad Gauge Tapes with 1/2 Railroad Gauge markings on them, one of which is offered on another auction as Item # 220045939171 on eBay (Check out my other items ! OR ) . The box, tape, rule and leather straps are all in mint, like new, unused, new-old stock condition with one small tear on one of the box corners and the Chicago Steel Tape Co. box taping seal in place, but see the other auction pictures to see the typical contents. NOTE: The last two pictures in this auction are from the other box. This steel tape or Babbitt Chain is brand new and unused, still in its original sealed box, wrapped with wax paper and wired in four places to keep it together. This original packaging contains 100' tape, wax paper, six-inch rule with "Chainman's Conversion Rule" marked in tenths and sixteenths on one side and in hundredths on the other, as well as two heavy leather straps for tying on each end of the tape for carrying or dragging purposes and tying it all up at the end of the day when rolled up and read more
