Hey, fellow Survivor Fans! We're back with our semi-annual Survivor event to benefit the favored charities of previous Survivor contestants! This season we are partnering for the first time with Terry Deitz who competed in Survivor: Panama and got a Second Chance to compete in this season's Survivor: Cambodia.Terry was awakened the evening of Day 13 when Jeff Probst came to the camp to tell Terry that his son, Danny, was ill and that Terry needed to return home immediately. Danny suffered from a condition known as dilated cardiomyopathy which had begun to present itself shortly after Terry left for Cambodia. A visit to the doctor for what they thought was bronchitis ultimately revealed the heart condition, and resulted in a trip to the emergency room for Danny and a hurried flight home for Terry. Thankfully, after spending 79 days in the hospital, Danny was able to get the heart transplant he needed, and by all accounts is doing well following the operation!As announced during the season finale of Survivor: Cambodia, Terry and Danny have started a fund, Danny Strong, that will raise money for research at Boston Children's Hospital, where Danny's transplant surgery was performed.
