Up for auction is this sweet little Dome Top Doll Trunk dating from the late 1800's and must have been used by little girls back then. When we found this little jewel it was in desperate need of TLC. First we removed the dirty paper lining from the inside and replaced it with cotton fabric. The dome top of this little trunk features the original paper covering. T is a slight depression in one area of the top. ( see picture #7 ). The remainder of the torn exterior paper covering was removed, exposing the beautiful pumpkin pine wood. We applied a coat of Polyurethane to protect and preserve the wood. The missing leather handles were replaced. The top half of the lock was missing and replaced with a similar shaped leather lift. Now this little treasure can easily be opened and used to place dolls, jewelry or other sentimental momentos in the tray and lower compartment. The trunk measures 16" long, 11" wide and 11" tall and weighs 6 pounds 10 oz. Shipping in the US will be $18.95 Parcel Post or $24.40 Priority Mail.
