Bailey was a name used by a school of Massachusetts impressionists at the early part of the 20th C....most notably, Davenport's Art Reference lists Bailey, T. as (William Paskell) 1866-1961 American. Painted in the early 20th C. is this nice little 8" x 10" oil on board by well listed Massachusetts artist T. Bailey (William Paskell). It is 100% guaranteed original and authentic...It depicts a tall ship at the docks with seaside shacks and rippled water with white puffy clouds in the sky and sailboats off in the distance.. The painting is from the early 20h C. and is signed lower right T. Bailey. I recently acquired a collection of Paskell and Bailey paintings, some I kept and some I will be offering over the next couple weeks, so please check out my auction page to see the others I listed this week.... Size: O/B measures 8" x 10", with frame it is 9 1/2" x 11 1/2". Condition: Very good condition, no issues, no apologies, nice painting, frame is in fine condition, and is a suitable replacement frame from the late 20th c. Maybe it could use a light cleaning, I think it displays fine as nice and original as it is.... Offered at .99 with NO RESERVE! A biography about the artist thanks to Askart: T. Bailey is a fictitious name for a a marine and ship painter, made up by Morris Hambro (1860-1938). British born, Hambro was a sign painter and salesman who came to the U.S. in 1865 and began selling T. Bailey paintings up and down the East Coast after 1910. A typical T. Bailey painting shows a tall ship in the high seas, sail unfurled. Several artists' names are associated with these paintings, including Vivian Forsythe Porter, Max Berman, Sears Thompson, J.G. Cloudman, Mae Bennet Brown, Melbourne C. Hardwick and most notably, William Frederick Paskell. Hambro sold the paintings mostly to businesses, traveling from Boston to Worcester, Portland, Maine and Cape Cod. Extremely successful, Hambro sold many of the paintings to galleries as well, and they were hanging in boardrooms from Boston to New York. View All My Items By !
