I strongly believe that a cross can be one of the most personal & special pieces of adornment one can give , recieve , or own. I believe that they are an expression of who we are and what we believe. This make them very personal, and treasured by their owners. It should be unique and lovingly detailed and crafted. Too many crosses I see are mass produced and machine made, which is fine , however they don't hold a flame to this early art deco era 1920's -1940's sterling silver cross . With it's finely detailed flower embelished enameled front, which slides open as a locket holding 3 Guilloche enameled plaques of Jesus and Mother Mary with the words " Oh Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee, 1830" along with 1 more saint, on the reverse is another plaque which holds a wrapped cross, is the sterling mark and maker's mark. In excellent vintage condition aside from some expected lines to silver only from sliding the locket open. Enamel is pristine too! A wearable size at approx 1& 1/4in long by 3/4in wide.
