Hello and welcome to my auction! This listing is for a primitive hand made quilt heart door greeter! This heart would look sweet hanging on a prim cupboard door or on a bed post. The heart is made out of an old vintage quilt. The quilt has a "lone star" pattern which makes the different fabrics used in the shape of diamonds. It has red, gold, cream, blue and green for some of the colors and it has some wonderful hand quilting lines. The heart is backed with a muslin print fabric. I hand stitched a vintage handkerchief to the front of the heart to create a pocket. The handkerchief has a sweet little design with raised stitched flowers. I have attached a grosgrain ribbon for the hanger. When all of the sewing was completed on the heart, I sponged it with my coffee/vanilla mixture, including the ribbon, and rubbed it with ground cinnamon and cloves. It has dried to a wonderful prim appearance and is a bit darker than it appears in the pictures. Inside of the pocket, I have tucked a vintage postcard, sprigs of Sweet Annie and stems of faux cranberry colored berries. The postcard has a silk fabric front with the picture of a bird holding a holly sprig in its mouth. The postcard was printed in Germany, has a hand written message on the back and has its original one cent stamped attached. I then tucked a bit of moss around the top of the pocket.
