Offering a very sweet, very small English Davenport white ironstone pitcher. This small, 5-inch high cream pitcher is a very rare and hard find size in this early Gothic shape. The pitcher has the embossed Davenport mark. It dates from the early 1800s before the use of English dates marks which came into use in 1842.It has eight sides. It is 5 inches tall at the lip and approximately 5 ¼ inches tall at the highest point of the handle. 3 inches wide at the base.Note the lovely shape of the handle and spout and the detailing of the bandingThe condition is very nice for the age with some signs of wear commensurate with the age of a piece of ironstone of the early 1800s.There is age discoloration on the handle, as shown in the pictures, with a few other minor spots along the base and edge of the rim. There is a small chip at the top of the back of the handle. There are tiny chips on two spots the rim at the peaks of the spout which results in some roughness at those corners. The rest of the rim is smooth. There is one very tiny, very thin hairline mark, (too thin to be called a crack) under the rim.The shiny white surface has no crazing. This lovely, unusual pitcher displays beautifully and would be an asset to any collection.I am happy to answer any questions.
