8" X 3" X 2 1/2" delicate swinging monkey wooden mechanical bank made in England in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The parts of the bank are fret-work cut revealing the shape of a monkey on each of the 4 sides to the bsae. The upper monkey is free to rotate upon a central spindle. When a small coin is placed into the monkey's hands and the lever to the rear of the feet is released, the weight of the coin causes the monkey to swing around the spindle in a forwards direction. When upside-down the coin falls into the coin slot below into the base and the monkey continues to rotate until in an upright position again. Coins are retrieved by sliding open the release mechanism and opening the base of the bank. Details of the monkey (eye, ear, arm etc.) are drawn in relief. The detail of the arm has been overdrawn and t has been a clued repair to the hands which has been painted to match the arms. Payment from outside the UK by PayPal only please. Airmail postage to USA $8.
