Not many of these left around in the market. You can carry your Schmidt-Rubin
rifle or carbine IN this one! I believe this was the first Swiss rucksack to be adopted either after the fur covered "Affen" (ape) packs or concurrently with the last of them. This is a genuine collector piece. It smells like a saddle. This is a Swiss Army mountain rucksack that was made starting during the WWII period and into the Cold War years. It has one very large compartment that could hold a sleeping bag and a lot of other stuff and two smaller outer compartments for things like poncho and gloves, extra socks, rations, etc. The entire bottom is constructed of a tough saddle type leather and this variant has the canvas shoulder straps. It has it's own internal or integral frame for comfort to the wearer. I'm told that the canvas material is made entirely of hemp. A very functional and interesting piece of collectible military equipment. This particular pack has a special pocket channel with an opening at the top and bottom with closures to contain and secure a rifle. It is completely separated from the back of the wearer by the internal frame. T is also an inner closure under the main flap of the large compartment of this pack for added protection of the contents from weather. As always, the Swiss knew what they were doing when they made these. Be sure to see my other auctions for other great Swiss equipage. I only have a handful of these left and I haven't seen any others on Ebay. Get one while you can! This one, I repeat, has the canvas web shoulder straps.
