Standard Swiss bayonet for Peabody rifle. The bayonet will fit Swiss M.1863 rifle. Full length quadrangular blade. Swiss markings and serial number are stamped on the bayonet. The blade length is 19.5 inch. The overall length is 21.75 inch. The thickness of the cruciform blade at the base is 16 mm x 12 mm. CONDITION: Excellent. The locking ring works fine. The Condition of this blade is excellent. I tried to take very close up pictures. I am a nut about condition. Pictures tell all. Some very light spotting that is not pitting along the length of the blade. One place w you can feel a blemish in the surface of the blade, when you are sliding your finger along the blade. The number 1759 is stamped on the blade, the number 146 on the connection piece. I think this dates to about 1867? 8$ SHIP. When I said swiss markings, I should have been more specific, the markings are a swiss cross and the letter P below the cross, all in a little stamped square, located on the elbow portion of the bayonet.On the opposite side of the elbow is located the number 1758, Not 1759 as mentioned originally, my eyes or a typo, sorry.
