The picture shows more than one blanket but the auction is for ONLY ONE BLANKET.
These blankets are all in used but very good and very usable condition. I will combine shipping of
multiple orders of these blankets if you ask me to do so. Ask before paying the invoices for items
bought.
I have blankets marked with the following years left:1914,16,17, 28, 29,31,33,38,39,41,42,43.
General Description of these items:
I came across a number of these blankets with a pile of really old Swiss military items.
They are all old original Swiss Army issued from the early 1900's up through the 1980's.
All are a little different but all in great shape. They vary slightly in shades of a kind of
brownish gray or grayish brown. All have a red stripe at top and bottom. Most have a
white cross either woven or embroidered in the center of both of the red stripes. Some
but not all have letters and numbers indicating the military organization, maker or year
of manufacture embroidered into them. Some but not all have a small serial numbered
aluminum disk pressed into the fabric. The Swiss army used these disks until some time
in the late 1950s but the 1960s 1970s and 1980s blankets so far have not had them.
Most of these blankets measure approximately 55-60" wide by76-80" long.
They are really a beautiful, heavy and soft wool. They have a very pleasing natural
"old world" feel to them and would look quite amazing on the back of a sofa or hanging
on the wall of your cabin.
A recently manufactured blanket like this (if you could find one of this quality) would
cost hundreds of dollars. Get these while they last! T are only a few left anyw
in the world.
Oh, BTW, speaking of hundreds of dollars, these exact same blankets (currently out-of-stock)
sell for $298 in the Sundance Catalog (Robert Redford). They even have a registered trademark
after the words "Swiss Army". This is not really necessary since these blankets are REAL Swiss
military, not the hokey commercial brand name stuff. Anyway, you can buy from me instead of
Robert Redford and you'll save over $250. Bob won't mind! He and I go way back!
