This is one of 2 swords that belonged to my grandfather. This appears to be an Officers Dress sword. T is no date on this item, at least none that I could find. The other sword, which I have already sold on e-bay, was a cavalry sword with a date of 1877 on the hilt. I am assuming that this sword is from the same era as this definately shows its age and both swords had been together in the family a long time. The blade has been coated to prevent rust, but t is still a little under the coating. The end of the scabbard is split. The brass on the handle shows its age. The weight is nice and feels great when you hold it and swing it around (being very careful, of course). Payment must be made within 5 days of successful bid.
