Born Tommy Wayne Cannon September 1946 in Lawton, Oklahoma - died May 1978 one of Oklahoma Native American artist of the 20 th century. Member of the Kiowa Tribe and of Caddo, French, and Choctaw descent. More popularly known as T. C. Cannon. He was getting ready for his first one-man show, scheduled to open at the Aberbach Gallery in New York in October of 1978 when on May 8 th of that year, he died in an automobile accident, after a delay the show did open in December of 1978 as "T. C. Cannon: A Memorial Exhibition." Which featured 50 works by Cannon and became a traveling exhibition and went on display at locations such as the Heard Museum, Museum of New Mexico and the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.
