T. G. Hawkes & Company of Corning, New York was opened in 1880 and brought American Brilliant Cut glass to the forefront at the Paris Exposition in 1889. Well known for his exceedingly progressive patterns with deep sharp intricate cuts, they were a leader in the production of American Brilliant Cut glass. This is a cruet in the pattern Milo or # 1686. The pattern is a tall thin oil or vinegar cruet which has cuts of fans between diamonds and hobstars. The base has 16 rays. The cruet has a scalloped top and applied cut clear handle. The cruet is signed right below the base of the handle. The stopper is faceted and fits snugly well down into the neck as it should. T is a cut pattern on the neck of bands and zipper. The cruet is 7 3/4" tall and has a base of 3". The cruet is in excellent condition with bright clear heavy glass blank that is sharply and deeply cut. This is a beautiful cruet that would add nicely to any American Brilliant, Hawkes, or cruet collection.I prefer Pay Pal but Money orders and Personal Checks (with time to clear) are accepted.
