T&V LIMOGES HP/SIG STUNNING PITCHER This absolutely gorgeous pitcher measures 4 3/8 inches by 5 inches at the spout, 3 3/4 inches in diameter at the base, 6 1/4 inches in diameter at the broadest point and stands at an average of 7 1/2 inches high. The ruffled spout is heavily gold gilded which is still in very good condition. There has been a professional repair on the outside rim of the spout which affects neither the beauty nor the structure of this gorgeous piece. The handle is very ornately designed, boasts lovely reliefs and is heavily gold gilded showing minor signs of use wear. The high relief of the handle "spills" onto the pitcher in a leaf-like form which is also heavily gold gilded. There is a band of gold gilding around the base. Just under the rim is a very pretty high vertical relief with a portion being gold gilded and the remainder painted in a pretty powder blue. Around the top of the florals are beautiful high relief scrollings and leaf-like reliefs...gorgeous! There are beautifully and skillfully hand painted florals in pinks, greens and blues with green centers and raised white stamen. The florals are surrounded by life-like leaves of green. This is an absolutely stunning piece! The artist has signed the bottom "A.V.W. '96"...that's 1896! The green backstamp "T&V France" is Mark 5a as found in Mary Gastons Third Edition of the Collectors Encyclopedia of Limoges, is underglaze and dates from 1892 to 1907. This stunning piece is at least 109 years old!
