.....recently acquired this fine and beautifully made Chinese Blanc de Chine porcelain statue of a seated Sage. Blanc de Chine ( White of China in French ) is a name given by early French collectors for this type of ware from Southern China province of Fujian. Most Blanc de Chine statues are Guanyin or other Buddhist icons. It is rare to find an early Blanc de Chine statue with this subject of an elegant seated scholar such as this seated Sage character. The statues portraits the scholar in his relaxed pensive position. The porcelain and the glaze are pure white with slight bluish tint. As seen on the photos, the statue's is extremely fine with all details of garment folds, fingers, and facial/body contours delicately finished. Chinese Hall mark carved on the back...the statue is in excellent condition with no visual damages or repairing........... from a private estate in 'mountain view' California, just south of San Francisco, who the elderly collector have been collecting fine Asian arts and Antiques for the past 50 years, From Japan to New York... We strongly recommend this beauty to any serious collector of Chinese ceramics and sculptures.
