This is a French enameled on gilt brass jewelery box in the style of Tahan of Paris. The top and sides are covered in Sevres enamel plaques, the top featuring an oval hand painted Wattaeu esque scene of two lovers in a rural landscape. It is framed by a row of enamel "pearls" and is on a pink ground. The sides are also pink enamel with similar "jewels" and other decoration. It sits on four finely cast Rococo ormolu feet. I assume the interior was once lined in padded silk but this has now been removed. It measures 8 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches. There are two small visible chips to the enamel on the lid where they are "tabbed" into the frame. This piece is estate fresh and will be sent via insured Priority Mail.
