You are bidding on (1) Takahashi bird pin Canada Goose Unknown gender 2 ½“ x 2” 1950s – 1980s Pin back attached with push pins Marked K.T. in a semicircle Comes in original cream presentation box and original identification card Excellent condition Carved by Yoneguma and painted by Kiyoka Takahashi, these marvelous wood birds are miniature works of art. The Takahashi family was among many Japanese-Americans confined in Poston III Camp, AZ after the bombing of Pearl Harbor . Their craft developed into a 45 year family business. A collection of their work is now held in the Japanese American Museum attesting to their artistry. Kiyoka Takahashi only signed the birds she considered to be the best examples of carving and painting. Important: Unauthorized copies of the Takahashi bird pins have clasps that were attached with screws rather than push pins. If a bird has a clasp attached with screws, it is not a Takahashi. The history of these lovely handmade brooches can be found on the Takahashi website I will be listing 15 Takahashi bird pins over that next few weeks! Please check out my other items !
