Tales To Astonish #49 from November 1963 This silver age Tales to Astonish issue has always been a key because it features an early original Ant-Man switching over, and making his first appearance as Giant Man! (he goes on to a long career, in this form, as a member of the Avengers! ). It also contains the first appearance of The Living Eraser, one of the cooler off-beat villains of the day, making for some wild covers, with a neat effect where the artists literally erased their art of the hero, when he swipes his hands! This issue has the classic art of Jack Kirby and Don Heck. The upcoming Ant-Man movie stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, and Michael Douglas, as Hank Pym (who is the Ant-Man/Giant Man version depicted in this issue). The new Ant-Man movie is opening on Friday July 17th, and if past movies are any indication of what may happen, these early key issues and first villain appearances should see some additional fan demand, as well! This copy has been been freshly graded by 3rd party grading company CBCS at a 5.0 with Off-White to White page quality designation. This old book still has really bright colors (and Giant Man's reds are still really rich) and it's well-centered, with great eye-appeal for the assigned grade (they grade pretty strictly, imo).
