AUTOMOBILE SALES & SUPPLIES and SOUTH FLA. MARBLE WORKS , real photo postcard by unidentified photographer, ca. 1915. This outstanding, sharp, detailed real photo postcard shows JOE B. JOHNSON AUTOMOBILES & SUPPLIES , with a semicircle of twelve early automobiles parked in front, as well as an adjacent business, the SOUTH FLA. MARBLE WORKS , about 1912. Some internet research found Joe B. Johnson listed in the 1920 U.S. Census as living at 203 Magnolia St. in Tampa, Florida FL and employed as Manager, Auto Garage . I'm pretty sure we have the same Joe B. Johnson's Auto Garage in this handsome real photo postcard. Beyond the Marble Works is another business identified as THE RECORD , which is likely the local newspaper, the Tampa Record . Please see the detail scans below for close-up views of the businesses and the terrific early automobiles. Note the young lad sitting barefoot astride the hood of the third car from the left. A superb, exciting real photo postcard! Tampa is in Hillsboro County . Postally unused, divided back, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2". AZO stamp box (points up) dates postcard to 1907-1918.
