Tanzanite Crystal (Natural) 'AA' Grade Tanzanite is a member of the Zoisite family. It is a calcium aluminium silicate mineral with a hardness of 6.5 - 7 and an orthorhombic crystal system. The colour range for Tanzanite is blue to blue-violet with some crystals golden to brownish yellow. First discovered in 1967 in Tanzania and named after the country of its discovery. This crystal has great colour and is very well formed, it is a totally natural example (not heat treated). From Block B, Merelani, Tanzania it measures approx. 2.3 cms x 1.1 cms x 0.9 cms at the widest points. This crystal is a very fine example and would grace any collection, it could quite easily have a price tag of 4 to 5 hundred dollars. This is a sizeable example. Check out my other items !
