This piece is quite heavy, and weighs 1 pound 1.2 ounces on my scale. That includes the wooden handle, but that is lightweight, so I estimate that t is approximately one pound of Sterling Silver in the piece.At today's price of $16.72 per troy ounce, the piece is worth well over $200 in silver value alone!And it is beautifully made...with an ornate scrolled edge and slightly domed lid.Stamped on the bottom "MEXICO STERLING 925" and stamped on the edge of the lid with the stylized eagle mark bearing the number 3, indicating that the piece was made somew form the 1950's to the 1970's in Taxco, Mexico.Please write with any questions that you have!
