I have a huge PASSION (obsession?!) for antique and vintage Mexican silver jewelry. I guess that my interest began while I was in high school (many, MANY years ago!). My Mother would travel to Mexico every summer and would bring back exquisite silver jewelry that was designed and crafted by Mexican silversmith artisans. I am constantly buying more (and more!) ~ some pieces are added to my collection and some I offer to you on Ebay so that you may experience the wonderful feeling of Mexican silver against your skin and come to appreciate the creative artistry and superb craftsmanship of Mexican silver masters . This is a BEAUTIFUL sterling silver bracelet made by master silversmiths in Mexico prior to 1948. The Mexican government mandated the use of the Eagle assay marking system for silver in 1948. This system was changed to the letter/number system in late 1979/early 1980. Since this bracelet has neither mark, it is safe to assume that it was made before 1948. It is constructed of twenty links that have an art deco look ~ silver bars accented with silver domed balls ~ the clasp is very unique, it is designed to look just like one of the links when it is closed ~ in fact, it is difficult to tell w the clasp is when it is closed. The length of this piece is 7-1/2" ~ width is 1/2" ~ it weighs 37.2 grams ~ it has a lovely rich patina that vintage silver is known and loved for ~ and the condition is pristine. It is hallmarked "MEXICO, 925, STERLING". This is a stunning vintage Mexican piece ~ it would make a wonderful gift for someone ~ or treat yourself ~ the holidays are fast approaching!
