Up for bidding is a remarkable sterling "Taxco" silver and turquoise money clip, signed by Bernice Goodspeed, circa late 1950s-1960s. Description : The piece measures approximately 1 5/8" wide by 2 1/4" tall (40mm x 60mm). It features a ram's head design in sterling silver inlaid with crushed turquoise. A money clip is attached. The clip is inscribed with DE ANZA / DESERT / C.C. The back of the ram's head is stamped with STERLING / 925 and TAXCO / B / MEXICO in a circle .The De Anza Desert Country Club of Borrego Springs, California was designed in 1956 and was a classic mid-century desert golf course. It is still open today.Bernice Goodspeed was a cultural anthropologist who moved to Taxco, Mexico in 1938, and handcrafted silver pieces there until her death in 1971, becoming a well-respected silversmith over the years.Condition : The money clip was used and has an attractive natural aging. The turquoise fill is a bit "rough" in places, visible in the first photograph. The silver has a bit of toning on the ram's head.
