Amazing Old Taxco School Mexican Silver Repousse Dragons Necklace. Really Great Work, Pre-Eagle, Fully Marked. This piece was made in Mexico and has the heritage of a long time of producing this kind of pieces. This necklace is an authentic piece of art by itself. This amazing piece was crafted in the Mexican workshops which are famous for their great quality in the manufacture of this kind of jewelry. It has a rich cultural background like that of the Mexican traditions. It is known that the silver of Mexico is internationally recognized for its purity and extraordinary artistic qualities. This art- piece was created using repousse, the use of this technique implied a bigger amount of time for doing it, not like other techniques which were less complicated. Also it needed great skills for making it. And it was a technique commonly used in Mexican Workshops. This necklace is made of six panels. It has two identical and big panels which are in the middle of the necklace, they have the shape of dragons which are facing each other. They have the head, a curved body and the tail which has curved patterns and pointed ends. The tail and the head are joined and share the ornamentation. Some parts were also chiseled with very small undulating lines which create shadows or a textured finish to those parts. Each one measures: 3 7/8 X 2 Ã,½ in. On each side of those pieces are two panels with almost the same design. Each one has the shape of the last part of the dragonâÂeÂ(tm)s tail; with curved lines and pointed ends. Each one of this four panels measures: 2 Ã,½ X 7/8 in. It was entirely handcrafted and a lot of time was invested in creating this unique piece. The design is really wonderful and very rare. All the panels are joined together by circular links. The clasp is in perfect working condition and is of hook. It has its original patina. You really have to look at the photos so you can appreciate all the details that this piece has. It measures: 16 in . It is fully marked as follows: MEXICO , SILVER , MEXICO , SILVER. It weights: 78.2 gr. This piece is in excellent vintage condition, it has only some minor surface scratches and dents common to any worn vintage piece. Look at the photos so you can detail it.
