This is the TC Electronic multi-band compressor. By splitting the signal into separate frequency bands and allowing you to change the compression on each band, you can get a much more transparent, open sound that still has the reined-in behavior of compression. I'm surprised to see it is no longer in production, since it has been superior to any other compressor I've used. I used it for years on bass, synths and vocals. It has two inputs and two outputs for stereo processing. You can also use it as a dual mono or traditional compressor (non-multi-band) if you want, or take advantage of some of its features like MIDI to do more exotic "effects" that other compressors just can't do.TC Electronic makes a beautiful display that is easy to read in low light. Probably the most visually attractive piece of gear I've had. It has a few little scratches which can be seen in the photo, but it has had a very comfortable life in a smoke-free home.
