Rare 18th C. rectangular ball footed, canister form tea caddy with high relief repousse panels depicting a central cartouche with armorial crest depicting a birdhead with a ring in his beak and three droplets on his neck, flanked on either side by a bird of paradise and stylized scroll and flowers, at the top of the panel, there is a compote of fruit and flowers, rests on ball feet, hallmarked on the removable sliding lid on underside of base, hallmark is a crowned shield with co-joined initials, one being a D, 7.25 ozt, 6 1/4''H x 3 3/4''W x 2 3/4''D, one ball foot has a minor dent and a crack. From a South Portland, Maine home.
