This pair of Japanese tea-cup coasters appears to date from the 1910s or 1920s, and was made to commemorate the retirement of a soldier from the army. On the inside is written, "Jotai Kinen" ("Retirement Commemoration"), while on the left is the Japanese Army star. We're not sure what the gate depiction on the right is meant to represent, but it may symbolize leaving the barracks. They appear to be made of blackened bronze.As shown in the sample pics, t are a few spots and streaks of light green oxidation, and some wearing-away of the blackening, but otherwise t are no significant dents, scratches, or other damage. Each measures W4 3/4" (120mm) X D3 1/2" (89mm) X H11/16" (17mm). This item is set to ship via Air Mail, and should arrive within 7-14 days after being posted.
