Up for auction is a TEAC X-2000RBl reel-to-reel tape deck. The TEAC -2000R was manufactured from the late 1980's until the early 1990's and was TEAC's last and best consumer tape recorder. This tape deck is still highly regarded as one of the best examples of analog recording technology, and sought out by those who prefer the warm sound of an analog recording over the digital sound of today. Anything else visible in the photos are for demonstration purposes only and are not part of this sale. Operating condition: Everything on this tape deck works as designed and was fully tested prior to listing. The capstan drive was a bit sluggish in lifting when I began my testing. I removed the drive, cleaned off the old lubrication, and placed fresh lubricant on the slide mechanism. I also replaced the damper pads on the tensioning arm assemblies, as the original material was loose. Cosmetically the deck is in very nice condition for a vintage piece. T are no marks or scratches on the face plates. The cover over the VU meters is scratch free. The only minor defects I can spot are a couple very small scratches on the edge of the head cover. The back of the plastic case has some scratches and marks that appear to have been made by contact with other equipment when it was rack mounted. I will pack this very heavy item with great care. It will be double boxed, with plenty of protective material inside to keep those reel tables and case edges well protected. The shipment will be insured to protect both of us. My shipping cost might seem a bit high, but those big boxes and packing materials aren't cheap. I don't use recycled stuff on items like this. I always refund any shipping and handling charges should the actual cost be lower. If the cost is higher, I pay the difference myself.
