This auction is for the Vintage Teac X-2000R Reel to Reel Tape Deck Recorder and Original Teac RE-1003B Black Metal Reel (as seen in photo #1).I purchased this recorder from the original owner who took pristine care of it. He even made a dust cover for it which I am including but did not take photos of. At the time of sale I was told that it worked perfectly the last time it was used and based on overall cosmetic condition I believed that to be true. Once I got it home, I removed the back housing and found that the drive belt was broken (clean break and left no gooey residue behind). I ordered a new belt on eBay and installed it this weekend. Once installed, everything seems to function as it should (see photos #7 thru #12) and I listened to it play with headphones on, but I know almost nothing about the advanced workings of these units. I simply ran tape thru and pushed play, rewind, FF, etc. No other testing was done. My guess is that the unit could use a good lubrication considering the length of time it sat unused. Since I am unable to fully test the recorder it is being offered as-is. I do however guarantee it will arrive in described condition.Cosmetically this unit is in mint condition.
