This auction is for this unique North Carolina Pottery Jar or Vase. This piece measures approximately 13 inches tall. the diameter is approximately 8 1/2 inches. It has 3 handles. T is a ringed design from top to bottom. this is an early all hand turned and hand made piece. It has a desirable chromium red glaze. From what I can determine by handles, the lip at the top and the ringed form, this piece is circa the 1930's. In the Potters OF Seagrove book by Lock t is a similar form illustrated on page 48. The bottom photo shows a very similar vase and attributes it to B. D Teague.. This piece is unsigned but has the identical rings, handles, lip and color and similar form but is larger than the one in the book....I have shown the photo from this book for your reference....The bottom of this vase appears to have remnants of an old label. This piece is in very nice condition with a few minor flaws. One handle appears to have a very old repair. It is hard to tell if it was done after making or when it was done. It is not glaring. The base has some of the common rough glaze spots and has a small base chip right at the bottom. T are some small scuffs and wear marks. On the body of the vase t are a few of what look like small glaze surface flakes but they are covered over with chromium red...All of this is minor and some of it is from in read more
