TEAK BED SET - OVAL SHAPED CORNER BED with LAMPS, VANITY TABLE & CHAIR - circa 1950, Germany (custom made bedspread included)This is a very unique furniture set for true furniture lovers. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION !!! Keep in mind this set is nearly 60 years old so please read all details as to condition carefully before bidding on this furniture set. (In particular pay attention to mattress and box spring comments.) You are bidding on an oval (round) shaped corner bed with attached end tables made in Germany circa 1950. This bed is of a teak veneer construction. Included with this bed are two (2) small lamps with teak bottom and one (1) teak 3-drawer vanity with attached mirror. Also included is one (1) small chair of matching height to go with the vanity table. Additionally a custom made bedspread is included with this set. (The oval shaped mattress will require king or queen sized fitted or unfitted sheets, or specially made oval sheets.)It takes a lot of floor space to accommodate this bed because of the corner design. Please keep this in mind before choosing to bid on this item. Approximate overall dimensions are as follows: From the tip of wall corner to the end of the foot board is approximately 110-inches.The horizontal surface (shelf) of the head board at its widest point from the wall corner to the head of the mattress is approximately 29-inches.The mattress section at its maximum width is approximately 76-inchesEach side of the headboard/night-stand sides of the headboard is approximately 76-inches longThe overall sleeping surface is a little smaller than a full-size bed due to the oval shape. However, it will also require sheets larger than full size due to the shape.If you are over 6-feet tall, you would not want to sleep in this bed.(I can e-mail a sketch of the dimensions if you have questions.)The bed is designed to fit in the corner of a room. On each side of the headboard are two small attached night stands with small over-and-under shelf area and a section enclosed by a door on each side.MATRESS and BOX SPRING condition: I slept on this bed for approximately 2-years when I first purchased it back in the mid-90's.(I stopped sleeping on this bed when bought a different bedroom suite that occupies less floor space.)The mattress and box spring are each made up of two pieces with a split head-to-toe down the middle of the mattress. Depending on how much you toss and turn or if t are one or two people in the bed, the seam may be somewhat of an issue. Personally if I had chosen to keep this bed I was planning to have a custom made one piece mattress to go on top of the two-piece box spring. The new mattress with perhaps a small board to span the small gap in the two-piece box spring should eliminate any issues with feeling the crack.This is the original (60 year old) mattress and box spring. It will not be the most comfortable mattress you have ever slept on. It also has some stains and a few small tears in the fabric on the sides and bottom of the box spring. The mattress and the top surface of the box spring do not have any tears or holes. Again, if I were planning to keep this bed for my own use, I would investigate at a minimum a new custom mattress, and perhaps a new custom box spring set.T are many websites available with information on custom-made special shape mattresses.(A few suggestions -- these are just notes from when I looked into having a mattress made for myself.)LAMPS: The two lamps are approximately 15-inches tall. The base of the lamp is approximately 3-inches in diameter.
