Teen-Age Parade # 33 (Canadian White Edition of unknown issue of Brenda Starr Comics) - GGA / Newspaper Comics From The Golden Age ! Teen-Age Parade # 33, circa 1949/1950 (Canadian White Edition of unknown issue of Brenda Starr Comics) - VG 4.5 's a comic that is unusual in the sense that Brenda Starr comics was taken over by a Canadian comic book publisher in 1948 (Superior Comics), yet this issue reprints one of the Brenda Star issues of either the Four Star Comics versions or the Superior versions. Not sure if any lawsuits were involved but seeing as these were considered disposable at the time, I don't see anyone going through all that trouble. Having said that, this is a decent issue of fast talking, sweet dressing and curvaceous red-head Brenda Starr , reporter for The Flash newspaper. Created and drawn by Dale Messick . Nice GGA. Cover art by: Seems to be a photo-cover and although I can't place it, it seems to be one of the generic covers that Bell Features used on tsome other Atlas / Marvel issues. Interior stories are: - Assignment Preferred, featuring artwork credited to Dale Messick in which Brenda wants to do some serious reporting rather than the birth notices. She marches right into Muggs Walter's office and demands respect. You go girl! Brenda also disses love interest Tom Taylor . 8 pages. - Invitation To A Dance? featuring artwork credited to Dale Messick again and featuring Pesky Miller and Tom Taylor . This time Brenda Starr goes undercover at a masked ball...not too difficult I imagine. 8 pages. - To Share Alike - A text story by Roy D. Stropes . 2 pages. - Destiny Unknown, featuring artwork credited to Dale Messick which is a continuation of the masked ball story. The costumes are kind of goofy but double crosses abound so it's a pretty exciting story. 8 pages. - Gotham Garden featuring Steve Ayres , pipe-smoking ace cop. No credits on this one but the artwork is similar to Matt Baker's so I wonder if this issue reprints Brenda Starr # 3? In this story death strikes a beauty contest and it's up to Steve Ayres to figure out this almost perfect crime. 6 pages. This issue is completely unrestored and I am the original owner . From a smoke-free home. Important Note: This is the Canadian Printing/Edition . Condition Teen-Age Parade # 33, circa 1949/1950 - Very Good 4.5 Bell Features. Printed in Canada. 36 pages. - The interior pages are at OWL 8-9 . - The front cover has tiny nicks at top and right edge, top edge has one tiny tear, faint and tiny creases at corners, creasing apparent on yellow background, very faint dust shadow at bottom edge. Poor paper stock as was common on Canadian Editions. - The spine is rolled and has nicks and staple stress, ends are slightly abraded, slightly rusted staples. - The back cover has creasing, corner creases, edge nicks, small stamp in blue ink at top right corner. A great way to own Classic, CGC - less / un - slabbed, Golden and Silver Age comics at an affordable price . Although grading is a subjective art, I try to grade to very strict Overstreet standards.
