This auction is for a rare 1948 Model 48-2500 Philco Television Projection Receiver...yes it really is a vacuum tube projection television! It is in original, unmolested condition and has never been refinished. This is a 29 tube superheterodyne receiver...and was the very top of the line in its day. This really was a TV for the rich and famous. It was meant to be presentation piece of furniture, as well as a cutting edge electronic device. The mahogany, even after 50 years, just glows. It also has channel "1" . The cabinet is constructed like an ark...extremely thick and rigid structure...it weighs between 150-200 lbs!!. The veneer is all good...but has scratches and a few minor chips. It does NOT need to be re-finished! A good bees-waxing will make the finish present exremely nice. The action of the lid/screen is nice and solid. The screen is in original condition too...which is very important with this model. The screen is a formed sheet of lightly (VERY lightly) brushed stainless, and you never want too use any kind of a metal polish, etc. on it. A damp, soft, lint free cloth is all that should ever come in contact with it. The unit is very dusty. The face cloth is tattered, but easily replaced. The manual is original. It has not been powered up in over 30 years!! This would make a super addition to any collection. Bid with
