NOTE: I always email the winning bidder 1-3 days after the close of auction unless stated otherwise in my description; so, if you have not received a winning notification email/invoice thru eBay or by me personally then you might have your spam filter turned on.
This is a fun silverplate trophy that is engraved, "University of Chicago - Inter Scholastic Tennis Tournament 1912 - Winner of the 1st Place Doubles". It measures from bottom to top of handles approx. 9" high x 5-1/8" dia. at the top opening; and it weighs almost 1 lb. 12 ounces. Marked in the center on the bottom is The Hoover and Smith Company, Philadelphia, but along the bottom inside edge you can barely make out Derby Silver Co. Hopefully you can see well enough in my pics -- had a hard time taking them due to glare. My pic of the inside depicts it as black - it isn't (taken to show the upper edge of the piece). Nice grape detailing around the top, and ball decoration on the handles. In basic good condition for an old silverplate trophy but it does have a flatish dent on the backside upper body, as well as some small dents on the foot base. T is wear to the silverplate especially on the grape detailing and some other areas, as well as scratches and wear. The inside has scratches and wear too. Still a neat old piece of tennis memorabilia from the University of Chicago. Please email any questions before bidding, and thanks for looking at my auction! U.S. WINNING BIDDER: Winning bidder to pay for U.S. Priority Mail shipping plus optional insurance. I have provided shipping charges under Shipping Calculator which is a link provided by eBay in this listing. Either personal check, money order or PayPal is great. California residents must pay for 7.75% sales tax unless a VALID RESALE CARD IS SUBMITTED TO ME (just a resale number is not acceptable - this card must be received before item can be shipped, or tax will be added). If the winning bidder is a resale buyer and does not have access to a resale card, one can be emailed to you for completion and signature and then mailed back to me. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for understanding. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS YOU ARE WELCOME TO BID, BUT YOU MUST EMAIL ME BEFORE BIDDING. I've had some problems with items getting stuck in Customs for long periods and I want to be sure you are clear on shipping costs and arrival time. I can't be held responsible for arrival time (when you finally receive the package check the postage stamp for when I shipped it). If you want to have more control over your package you must pay for Global Express Mail, or any other method that provides insurance and tracking. I realize that this is more expensive but that is the only way it can be tracked should it get lost or stalled in Customs. If you chose Airmail or Parcel Post I can't be held responsible for delivery time. Finally, I provide the exact amount paid for the item on the Customs form - NO EXCEPTIONS. Thank you for understanding.
