Tenyo introduced Hori's Spinning Plate on Rope (T-82) in 1976 and has it been a discontinued item for quite some time.
The effect was created by Takeshi Hori and is one of the most sought after items by Tenyo collectors. Have you ever actually seen anyone perform this effect? :-) 1976 was a remarkable year for the Tenyo Company. They released an even dozen effects in the US that year. I believe more than double any other single year! Included in the 1976 run were two items packaged in luxorious, alligator skin textured card board boxes. One was Space Walking Coins, and the other...Spining Plate on Rope.
This item is from my personal collection, and while it is 32 years since its first release, it appears to be unopened. In fact the staple is still intact on the plastic bag containing the props. The box is in nice shape. No dings or tears. Plese see the pictures.
In general this piece is in mint condition.
About me:
My name is David Oestreicher, CPA, MBA and I live in Buffalo, NY. I'm a Financial Adviser by day and an avid close-up magician and magic collector in my "spare" time. With 2 kids ages 10 and 12, that amount of spare time becomes less and less!
I have been collecting Tenyo magic for 35 years, first pieces being Mystic Ruby, Angel Coins and Coin Fan. Of course, at the time I was a kid and had no idea that for the past 10 years I'd get real "serious" about expanding my collection to include all of the "numbered" items" Tenyo has distributed in the United States. My Tenyo collection now includes several hundred pieces (Yes, I'm still missing 3 T numbers), including both domestic and foreign distributed Tenyo items from their Magic, Joke and Puzzle lines.
For more information on the Tenyo lines and Tenyo collecting you should definitely check out these excellent websites:
http://www.tenyo.co.jp/magic_en/index.html - This is the Official Tenyo Corporate Site
http://www./ - This is Angelo Carbone's (Amazing Magician and Magic Inventor) Site dedicated to all things Tenyo. While it hasn't been updated in a while, it's still a great tool.
My collecting interests have expanded into other lines of Japanese manufactured magic including: Tricks Co., Rabbit Co., Ton Onosaka, Mikame and a few lesser knowns. If you are interested in researching any Tenyo or Japanese related magic info, please drop me a line.
