Perfect gift for Texas A & M fans. This plate features the Civil Engineering Building, opened in 1909. Third of 11 plates I am listing from a rare collection of vintage Wedgwood plates that depict buildings on the Texas A&M campus. Complete set of 12 appraised at $6,500. Plates designed in the 1930s and 50s by Texas A&M architecture students and faculty. This is one of the original 12 plates produced for the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College (Texas A&M) by the Wedgwood Company of England, which is no longer manufactures the plates. The collection celebrates some of the famous buildings on the campus of Texas A&M. Each plate displays the building with the title and year it opened. All plates have a similar rim design which includes shields depicting the 6 flags that have flown over the great state of Texas and a western motif including longhorn heads. Design is done in lighter maroon color. Along with the date code impressed on the back (6F50) is the Wedgwood stamp, the Wedgewood Etruia England mark and Jones, McDuffee & Stratton Co. logo. The plate is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, wear or rubs on front. There is light crazing on the back and one spot on the front (lower rim in cream area) noticeable only with a magnifying glass.
