The Beatles almost single-handedly reshaped rock 'n' roll from a genre of throwaway singles by faceless stars to an artistic medium with recognizable images and idols. John Lennon, was the lead singer of The Beatles, was, and is one of the most influential artists of all time. Lennon was a singer, poet, painter, as well as a very inspirational figure to the youth of the world. His image and his name are used commercially in much the same manner as those of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean and Elvis Presley. Authentic Beatles memorabilia is hard to come by and is sure to increase in value as time goes on. The item up for bid is an elaborately Custom Framed "short lock" of John Lennon's hair, comprising of a few strands (framing alone is several hundred dollars). The strands of Lennon hair offered in this auction have been displayed over a scan of the original lock, thus, making it a substantial display.
