The Best Early 19th Century Tin Hanging Candle Lantern, American, Circa 1800-1830. This Bold and Large lantern is in fantastic condition and it still retains a large amount of it's Original Surface and Patina!! It still has old, possibly original blown glass panes. This has the typical hinged door associated with this type of lamp. This candle holder is removable and appears to be original. This lantern even retains its original applied tin guard shields protecting the glass panels. This added feature would keep the very expensive glass from being broken it the lantern was struck. As the photos show, on one side t is one missing tin guard. By the surface it appears that it has been missing for a very long time. Minor imperfections associated with age. This lantern stands over 7" tall and 14" tall with the bail handle extended. It is 4 3/4" square. This is a Great example of this form. Rarely do you see this type of lantern this big!!
