THE BIG BOOK OF BUTTONS SECOND PRINTING 1991 811 PAGES Condition : very good. I cannot say mint as it has a little wrinkle at the top (see photo), some scuffs on the back hard cover (see photo) and one page with extra paper on the top that has torn 1/4" onto the page. As if when manufactured it wasn't cut completely then later folded and tore? (see photo) This caused a few pages following to have a small nic at the top as well. The only writing in the book is a 'property of name' in the front. This is in ink. (see photo) I mention every detail in order for you to be completly satisfied. I am not an expert in books. I ask that you look at the photos and ask all pertainent questions before you place a bid...and as always if you are not absolutely satisfied I will give out my first refund. No matter how you approach buttons, as a hobby or to simply enjoy their beauty or fine workmanship....this book will enhance your love and appreciation for buttons!!In one volume, this book shows classifications, tons of plates, descriptions, values and history. Button Collectors List says "The Big Book Of Buttons Elizabeth Hughes & Marion Lester; New Leaf Publishers, 1992. Referred to as the Button Bible....this book weighs 5.75 lbs! It's beautiful and I promise you will spend hours and hours admiring this book and go back to it over and over and over again. I should know! Every time I tried to list this book this week I found myself looking through it and changing my mind. It is a beautiful invaluable treasure of a book. My hands down favorite of all my buttons books. BUT I have a goal to meet and it must go NO RESERVE AND GOOD LUCK TO YOU! My entire button collection (minus one handful) is also on auction. I am not a serious collector but I am a long time collector of things I love, buttons being my favorite. Check it out if you have time. All my SPIF auctions stand for Simply Pay It Forward. A nice idea that begins with someone doing a good deed for someone else and asking them to pay it forward to others if they have the opportunity and so on. It's contagious. I am paying it forward to my husband. You can find my story in my stamp auction or button auction if it is still on and a short version at the bottom of this auction. This is what my husband's car will look like someday...and why I am having these SPIFFY auctions. A new engine by December 29th..that's my goal. MY SPIF : I'm paying it forward to my husband!! I'm selling all my collectibles to buy my husband a present for his 40th birthday. Shhh it's a suprise! We've been married for 13 years. My husband works so hard and still finds time to be my best friend and a wonderful example for our two sons. He never asks for anything. Really! "What do you want for your birthday"? "Oh nothing I have everything I need" He never thinks about what he 'wants' because he has everything he needs and he is happy. So, last year I overheard him telling our son he used to own a Chevelle, they were looking through an old photo album. He started talking faster with enthusiasm and that far off dreamy look. My husband has a dreamy look without me in it?? He DID want something. So I asked him later and he said "Oh no that's silly we could never find one we could afford and it would take a lot of money to restore even if we did" Well...I found one! and now I would like to buy an engine for it. For once I would like to buy him something new and shiny...
