The Dear Abby Stamp Collection In March of 1990 in Santa Maria , California , the class of Mrs. Eschen & Mrs. Gordon at Patterson Elementary School , decided to do a project. They wrote to Dear Abby!!! They asked the readers of Dear Abby to send them a postcard of their city and state and also to tell about their occupations. On April 17, 1990 it was published in every state in America , including some foreign places like "The Stars and Stripes" in Europe . It was a tremendous success!!! Over 1900 postcards from every state were sent to the school within 2 weeks. The kids, which were in 4 th & 5 th grade, named Jeff, Jamie, Jared, Thietra, Justin, Sam, Micah, Dustin, Omar, Desiree, Alex, Luis and Carl were just amazed to get so many postcards. The children learned much from hundreds of different cities and states. Not only did they learn geographically w the cities are located, but also what the highlights each city had to offer. The children enjoyed learning all about so many persons occupations and the way they lived. In the book you will see 7 pages about Dear Abby and about the collection. Then you will see 4 postcards from all 50 states including foreign, military, and others. The book is a 3-ring binder with over 60 sheets(acid-free) made for postcards.
