8x10 Photo "The Enola Gay" Autographed by Pilot Paul Tibbets On July 16th 1945 the new president of the United States; Harry S Truman received word that an atomic bomb had been successfully detonated in the New Mexico desert. After further details were given to him, he consulted with his civilian and military advisors along with allied commander Winston Churchill. They were unanimous in their opinion it should be used to bring about the end of the horror; known as world war II. Precisely at 17 seconds past 8:15 am on the 6th of August 1945, Col Paul Tibbets and the crew of the Enola Gay a B-29 airplane, released the first atomic bomb over Hiroshima, Japan. Forty three seconds later the city ceased to exsist; thus changing the nature of warfare forever. Col. Tibbets was solely responsible for the organization, training, and command of the worlds 1st nuclear strike force. This photo pictures then Col. Paul W. Tibbets (now General Paul W.
