This First Edition of "The Great Crusade: A Narrative of the World War" by Joseph T. Dickman (in flawless condition) with forward by General John J. Pershing is signed by Major General Joseph T. Dickman. The signature is on the front page as an inscription, "With best wishes of the author - Joseph T. Dickman". The inscription is to a Major, however, I can not determine the name. It is dated July 16, 1927 . This was signed at the Eighth Annual Convention of the Society of the Third Infantry held in Washington , D.C. in July 1927. In the back of the book, t are several other signatures/autographs by E. L. Daley, Wiley H. Marble, M. J. Griffith, Harrison Ely Major General of the 5th Division, Walter Coffman 4th Infantry, Wolf (last name) from the 6th Engineers, Adams (last name) Col. 38, the last signature is that of the Judge Advocate whose signature is totally illegible. It may be B. Rivenbaum - I am not sure. MG Dickman led the 3rd Infantry in World War I and started the Society of the Third Infantry. Additionally, three news paper clippings pertaining to MG Dickman, General Pershing and World War I and an excerpt about the Third Infantry are included with this purchase. One of these articles is from the Washington Herald dated October 26, 1927 titled "General Dickman, Hero of Six Wars, is Laid to Rest in Arlington Cemetery ." Anyone interested in World War I, the Third Infantry or Major General Joseph T. Dickman would be interested in this book. This is a one of a kind piece of WWl history. Thanks for looking!
