We will allow payment for this week's slides as late as January 10th, 2007. Film: The Invisible Ray (1936) Studio: Universal Stars: Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Frances Drake About glass slides: Glass slides were produced to promote early motion pictures of the silent era and up through the early 1950s. They measure 3-1/4" x 4" (including the "frame") and were generally only exhibited in the coming weeks of a film's release. Glass slides were used less and less as the theatrical trailer started to become more prevalent beginning in the 1930s. The rarity of an intact glass slide is not to be underestimated. Only available to movie theaters and not the general public, most were probably discarded upon the respective film's release. Those that did survive were very often damaged over the years. Some contend that today an uncracked glass slide is just as rare, if not more scarce than the same title's posters. for larger, high-detail versions of the slide.
