THE LION HUNTER Manufactured by The J. & E. Stevens Company; Cromwell, Connecticut; Circa 1910 This scarce "shooting" bank depicts President Teddy Roosevelt on a safari in Africa during his presidency. Cock the rifle and place a coin flat atop the barrel. Push the lever down and the lion will rise up and the coin is shot at him and deflects into the bank. All functions on this bank work as new. Stevens actually glued mica chips to the base of this beautiful bank to suggest the exotic "dewy" wetness of the foliage in Africa. This bank is in excellent condition with the original mica still intact. The bank is constructed of heavy cast iron and is very substantial. This bank has been in my family since the late 1940's and comes from a smoke free environment. Within the last 10 years it was taken to an antique roadshow type event featuring a local antiques expert named Rinker who saw and authenticated it as an original. Potential bidders are welcome to have their own experts see it at my location for their own 'peace of mind'. This is your rare opportunity to add one of 'The Holy Grail' of mechanical bank collecting to your collection in a NO RESERVE auction with a low starting price and NO BUYERS PREMIUM.
