A most glorious find ! Packed away with many old books from the late 1800's to the early 1900's ( my Mom's collection ), is THE manual which, in 1906, explained everything about the Roman Catholic religion in 182 pages of Church teachings and beautiful pictures done on heavy delux paper. It begins with this hand written signature, "Imprimatur, James Edwards, Archbishop of Chicago, Chicago, ILL., August 24th, 1906". The TABLE OF CONTENTS takes up 9 pages ! T are 12 pages of testamonials and congradulations from Church leaders around the country. And, along with beautiful B&W and color pictures, is a sampling of the chapters : THE EXISTENCE OF GOD EXPLAINED; ONE LIVING AND TRUE GOD, THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY GHOST; IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE EARTH; THE COMING OF THE SAVIOR FORTOLD; REDEMPTION OF THE HUMAN RACE; THE CHRISTIAN FAITH; THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE CHURCH; THE SIN OF MAN; THE LIFE OF THE SOUL; THE SEVEN SACRAMENTS; THE SACRED POWERS OF THE PRIESTHOOD; THE SACRED BONDS OF MATRIMONY; THE HOLY WAY OF THE CROSS ( Stations of the cross ). That's just a "sampling" !! The condition of this 7.5 X 10 X 2.5 inch 4 LB. book is very good as the pages are all near perfect and the pictures are still fresh looking. The higher quality paper used to make the book did it ! Just one problem and that is the cover is pulling away at the side of the binding, the binding itself is fine and you just have to open and read the book with care ! For a Catholic, this book is astounding in it's detail !
